Bespoke

The Bespoke Service

Bespoke Compositions are the ultimate icing on the cake for your production, offering support for each scene, mood and character. How different would the original Star Wars films have been without John Williams’ brilliant score, Inception without the ground breaking work of Hans Zimmer or Elf without the uplifting music of John Debney? With our award winning team of writers, we can help you create unforgettable moments and form a deeper connection with your audience for each scene as you tell your story, from a singular, minimalist note to an intensely emotional rollercoaster. So if you would like to chat please get in touch and if you are unfamiliar with the process of commissioning bespoke music, please read on…

The Process

sync licence meeting making a deal and providing music supervision
1. Discussion & Plan

The perfect starting point to discuss bespoke music for any production is the script.

Any earlier and the story and characters aren’t formed enough to be able to pinpoint the right musical moods. With a script there’s a sense of time and place that provides a context for the style and emotions of the music to be identified.

2. Spotting

This means going through the script and “spotting” where music is needed or could

be appropriate.  Time spent during this stage will give your production flow and clarity ensuring that music is supportive to the narrative and doesn’t overpower.

3. Influences

This can be one of the most fun parts where you get to list all your favourite tracks

and how you imagined them fitting into the film.  Our job is to fully explain the production requirements that would go into creating those musical visions and how best this can be achieved.

4. Budgeting

We create a spreadsheet with all the bespoke options and work out the approximate

costs for the music to be produced and delivered. While individual track estimates won’t be exact, the overall total won’t be too far off. This exercise shows what needs to be trimmed; whether there’s too much music, too ambitious content or just costing more than the budget allows.

5. Demo & Approval

As we have access to various production facilities, this stage would involve us

creating various demonstration tracks so that you can be fully involved in the creation process.  It also ensures the music will perfectly fit the flow of your production before the final recordings are made.

the whole production process in house.  This ensures that your vision is kept front and centre all the way through the production process and allows us to ensure the highest quality of the final delivery.

9. Insurance

As the search for bespoke music can start quite earlier on in the production processes

it can sometimes be advisable, especially for larger productions, to seek insurance to cover the cost of your music budget should funding be an issue at a later point.  We are able to advise on this and provide you with reputable contacts within the business to get the right advise.
